Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Committee include:

a) Providing oversight and support for risk management, controls, and governance processes, along with other associated assurances.

b) Monitoring the implementation of recommendations from internal and external auditors.

c) Facilitating the disposal of all recommendations from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Public Investments Committee (PIC).

Requirements for Appointment

To qualify for this position, candidates must:

a) Be a Kenyan citizen.

b) Be a member of a recognized professional body in good professional standing.

c) Hold at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in the relevant field.

d) Have progressive work experience of not less than five years.

e) Not have been a past or present employee of the County Government of Bungoma or its entities, and not have served as an employee or agent of a business organization conducting business with the County Government of Bungoma in the last two years.

f) Possess a good understanding of the county government’s operations, financial reporting, and auditing.

g) Have a comprehensive understanding of the objects, principles, and functions of a devolved system of government.

h) Not be a holder of a political office.

Terms of Service

a) Committee members will serve on a part-time basis for a three-year term and are eligible for re-appointment for one additional term, subject to performance.

b) Despite the above, after the expiry of each term, at least one-third of the committee shall retire and will not be eligible for re-appointment.

c) Members will be entitled to allowances as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Committee (SRC).
