Job Description
Key Specific Responsibilities
The Credit Risk Officer is required to:
- Demonstrate commitment to, and compliance with, applicable laws and regulations, the organization’s code of conduct, guidance from supervisor, focus attention on details and adhere to established organization policies.
- Determine whether all employees of Yehu Microfinance Services Ltd easily and clearly understand and adhere to the credit policies and procedures of the Company.
- Develop sound, acceptable Debt Recovery Policies, analyze delinquent accounts and prepare report on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution.
- Monitor receivables and collections and provide updates of receivables and appropriate reporting
- procedures
- Identify problem accounts and provide regular updates of receivables to management ratification and eventual implementation by management.
- Generates legal documents to facilitate litigation and recoveries of non-performing accounts.
- Monitor violations of credit policies, provide analysis, conclusion and recommendations, present findings to senior management and suggest actions/penalties to be taken when appropriate
- Ensure that operational policies and protocol set in place by the organization work to achieve the prescribed vision and mission.
- Assist in identifying potential Credit risk areas and developing audit procedures to evaluate and test these areas.
- Continually develop your Credit Risk skill set through formal and informal training and to seek appropriate professional certification.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education minimum: Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Banking or Finance from a recognized University or a professional qualification in Banking or Credit
- Experience of more than 4 years in Credit management of a financial institution.
- Experience in potential Credit risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation
- Confidence & persistence: having confidence in own knowledge and skills i.e. understanding of enterprise-wide risk management and emerging risk issues orientation.
- Strong interest in and awareness of approaches to service delivery in the field of social impact investing
- Excellent interpersonal skills – able to align all stakeholders to risk consciousness focus and clarity on the function’s role in influencing staff and organizational productivity.
- Excellent communication skills- Able to read reports, assess the likelihood of the commitments made being executed, suggest interventions that will lead conversations/ feedback towards the desired result.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred.
- Ability to plan Maintains focus and positive attitude during high volume of work while multi-tasking with changing priorities.
- Self-motivated, efficient worker with high standards for quality of processes and results who can wor independently.
- Quick learner that is methodical and analytical who possesses excellent organizational skills.
- Intrinsic desire to seek solutions, achieve results and complete tasks.
