Job Description

Position Summary
The University is looking to fill a vacancy for the position of Physical Plant Manager. This individual reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Financial Administration (DVCF), and he/she directs and manages the physical plant and maintenance operations to support the institution’s operations, which consist of multiple facilities that include, but are not limited to, utility systems management, grounds maintenance, furniture management, and building maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
  • – Oversee all facets of the daily operations of the Physical Plant department.
  • -Responsible for building maintenance.
  • – Ensure that all furniture and fixtures are kept in good repair.
  • – Responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of all utility systems (electricity, water, etc).
  • – Ensure that all University grounds (including streets, pathways, hedges, etc.) are kept in good repair.
  • – Fitness Centre management.
  • – Assist the DVCF in the implementation of the Key Policy, Compound and Housing Policy, Asset Disposal Policy, Vehicle Policy, and other areas relating to relevant physical assets.
  • – Participate in budget preparation.
  • – Contribute to the ongoing development of an efficient administrative service to the clients of the University.
  • – Project management as may be assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience as an electrician, plumber, carpenter, mason, or any other industrial technology or civil engineering area.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor, manager, or departmental head.
Essential Qualifications
Educational requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A certificate or diploma in any one or more of the following areas: plumbing, masonry, carpentry, electrical, painting, civil engineering, and/or landscaping.
