Role Description
The primary purpose of an Assistant Finance Officer is to support the finance department in managing daily financial operations and maintaining accurate records. This role ensures organizational financial health by processing transactions, monitoring budgets, and maintaining compliance with both internal policies and external statutory regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
Level of Education
- Atleast Secondary School Education (KCSE)
Specialized training/professional qualification
- Atleast Bachelor of Finance and Accounting/Commerce-Finance Option, Finance and Economics, Accounting and Financial Management with at least CPA Part II.
- Possession of CPA-K will be a distinct advantage.
Relevant Job Experience
- Must have worked in a similar position for atleast one year.
Other competencies/skills/abilities required
- Must maintain at all times highest standard of integrity and ethics
- Must have good communication, attention to details and analytical thinking skills
- Must have deep understanding of Kenyan tax laws specifically for filling KRA returns
- Must be a good in computer packages especially Excel
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as Quick Books for accurate data entry and legre management.
- Ability to assist in preparing trial balances, P&L statements, and cash flow forecasts.
- Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and the ability to maintain organized files for internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and keep proper record of daily float in the safe and promptly and ensure daily reporting on the same to the Resorts Manager.
- Receive and receipt payments from guests and other related party on the unit’s business transactions.
- Reconcile of the daily sales report from all unit’s outlets.
- Facilitate Payment of casual wages.
- Facilitate all petty cash payments in accordance with procedures, by ensuring that vouchers are authorized and accompanied with proper documentation.
- Receive and distribute cheques and stamping of all paid invoices.
- Responsible for encashment of cheques.
- Posting of cash receipt journals for the unit.
- Prepare inter-mediate management report, creditors and debtors reports, monthly cash flow reconciliation report to the Resorts Manager and Assistant Finance Manager.
- Preparation of monthly stock reconciliation report, food sales and beverage sales report, motor vehicle fuel consumption report to the Resorts.
- Ensure debt collection and follow up of the unit within the debt collection policy guidelines.
- Maintain records of all payments related to the unit.
- Facilitate purchases of the unit’s operations equipment, supplies and materials for use or for repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure daily monitoring of the unit stores purchases and stocking.
- Conduct prequalification of vendor quotations for selection of favorable pricing of any purchases.
- Maintain proper book keeping of the units Accounting records.
- Implement fully the Jumuia Resorts Strategic plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
