This role has responsibility for developing strategies and implementing the EHS management system (work processes, standards, and procedures) to drive safety improvements, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain the license to operate, meet site and financial objectives. This role executes workplace safety, contractor safety, lab safety, occupational health, process safety, fire protection, environmental, and ergonomics. The scope of responsibilities is applied across multiple manufacturing units within a site and leveraged across the regional hub to multiple sites. This role acts as a people leader for EHS Technicians and Specialists with EHS subject matter expertise.

Core Responsibilities:

This job exists to provide EHS support across multiple facilities or sites.

Responsibilities include:

Deliver measurable and sustainable EHS performance improvements across the primary site of responsibility and associated regional sites

Ensure collection of leading / lagging key performance indicators and present to various levels of management in regular update

Collaborate with manufacturing and R&D Leadership Teams to assess safety and compliance systems as well as behavioral practices for development of strategic improvement plans

Provide visible personal shop floor presence to connect with workforce and drive execution at shop floor and management levels

Drive accountability with management teams through effective communications

Ensure compliance with applicable EHS legislation and company requirements

Manage permit strategy to ensure continuous license to operate

Manage submittal of all permit and regulatory required agency reports

Implement global EHS management systems (work processes, standard, and procedures)

Identify opportunities to streamline work processes and optimize EHS resources utilization.

Act as the focal point for a site, hub or business for specific EHS discipline (e.g., Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Personal Safety, or Process Safety)

Serve as EHS representative on the site’s management team

Participates with Global EHS Director and Site Leaders in the selection, staffing and development of EHS teams

Accountable for effective allocation of EHS resources across the hub according to risk priorities

Accountable for oversight of any hub EHS networks that are put in place

Accountable and responsible for orientation and training of new site EHS leaders

Develop internal audit plans, review performance, and feedback gaps to management

Facilitate responses to serious incidents, and participate / facilitate in incident investigations and corrective action process

Initiate and support management of change related to EHS matters

Required Qualifications:

8 years in people leadership role involving Manufacturing Safety (and R&D Safety preferred)

EHS Site Leader or Manager of large or complex manufacturing facility with multiple operating units

More than 12 years of professional experience in EHS

Professional certification (Safety / Environmental / IH Professional)

Education:

Bachelor's Degree. Preferred: Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety
