Job Summary: Under supervision of MPC-SAGIS, you will perform complex geographic data management and analysis duties in support of Chatham County E911, Chatham County Project Management Department, GIS public safety projects, and SAGIS project implementation. You will provide geospatial database management, design, implementation, and analysis required for public safety operations. This role supports the implementation of the Public Safety GIS Strategic Plan in cooperation with the E911 Advisory Board and GIS/Mapping Subcommittee. You will migrate the current Road Centerlines and Master Address Database in the necessary GIS data standard schema, identify any fields not calculated, and develop a plan to collect data. You will maintain all mission critical GIS datasets for public safety, review the process for keeping current, and improve efficiency and turnaround time. You will identify which layers are impacted by changes in others to develop a notification policy, and create missing GIS feature layers and maintenance procedures. Using your interpersonal skills, you will establish a workflow with all municipalities within Chatham County to edit and maintain addressing and street datasets. You will also develop and maintain additional GIS datasets required for public safety and E911, and provide technical support for all E911 mapping applications in the Department. You will work in collaboration with the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) technical staff, the MPC and municipal addressing authorities, the Board of Assessors, and GIS staff to maintain a current and accurate Road Centerlines and Master Address Database and Master Street Address Guide (MSAG). You will assist PSAP technical staff with planning for expansion and enhancement of the E911 system in Chatham County in preparation for Next Generation 911 (NG911). You will provide support to Public Safety leadership through data analysis and reports. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Planning, Public Safety or a related field, and at least four (4) years’ GIS or related experience, including experience with geodatabase creation and maintenance, working with public safety agencies, and/or GIS public safety datasets; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) or Esri ArcGIS Desktop Professional (EADP) is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Note: During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
