Communications Director – Shamiri Institute, Kenya

Role Overview:

Lead the Communications team in developing and executing a high-impact communication strategy aligned with the organization’s mission. Collaborate with stakeholders to convey the importance of mental health, manage media relations, engage stakeholders, oversee content creation, and drive digital presence. Foster internal communication and measure campaign effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy.
  2. Craft compelling messages on mental health awareness and destigmatization.
  3. Manage crisis communications and guide the team during emergencies.
  4. Cultivate relationships with media outlets and influencers.
  5. Represent the organization at events to raise awareness and engage stakeholders.
  6. Oversee content creation, including articles, videos, and social media posts.
  7. Lead the organization’s digital presence and email marketing.
  8. Collaborate with the Engage team for mental health policy advocacy.
  9. Establish partnerships with organizations and influencers to amplify impact.
  10. Ensure effective internal communication and alignment with organizational goals.
  11. Track and analyze communication strategies, providing regular reports to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Dynamic leader with a passion for mental health.
  • Substantial experience in communications or a related field.
  • Proven track record in developing effective communication strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
