Job Description

DIRECTOR, SPORTS AND GAMES – CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION

Qualifications for Appointment: Academic and Professional:

  • a) Possess a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Education (physical education option) or a related discipline from a university recognized in Kenya.
  • b) Hold a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in Physical Education and Sport or a related discipline.
  • c) Be a member of a recognized professional administration or management body.

Experience and Skills:

  • a) Have twelve (12) years of administrative experience, with at least 3 years at the Deputy Director or equivalent level.
  • b) Demonstrate outstanding professional competence in sports management and administration.
  • c) Possess administrative skills, including organization, communication, time management, and customer care.
  • d) Be computer literate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • a) Manage members of staff in the Department.
  • b) Coordinate all student and staff sports and games programs at the faculty and university levels.
  • c) Coordinate the procurement of sports equipment and kits at both faculty and university levels.
  • d) Implement the Departmental Performance Contract.
  • e) Liaise with the University Management on matters related to students’ sports and games.
  • f) Design Departmental sport policies for endorsement by the university management.
  • g) Facilitate the linkage between students’ sportsmen and sportswomen and the departmental staff with the University Management.
  • h) Provide periodic reports on students’ sports and games achievements to the university management.
  • i) Harmonize the university student internal and external sports program and the National sport federations calendar of events.
  • j) Link excelling sportsmen and sportswomen with the corporate world for job opportunities.
  • k) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor from time to time.
