Roles / Duties
- Operate excavators to dig, move, and load soil, rocks, and other materials
- Perform excavation work for construction projects such as roads, buildings, and drainage systems
- Ensure safe handling of the machine to avoid accidents or damage
- Conduct pre-operation checks (fuel, oil, hydraulics, brakes)
- Follow site plans, instructions, and signals from supervisors
- Carry out basic maintenance and report mechanical issues
- Maintain cleanliness and proper use of the equipment
- Adhere to safety regulations and use protective gear at all times
Qualifications
- KCSE certificate (minimum) or equivalent
- Valid operator’s license or certification for heavy machinery
- Proven experience operating excavators (construction or mining sites preferred)
- Basic knowledge of machine mechanics and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret site plans or instructions
- Good coordination, concentration, and attention to detail
- Physically fit and able to work in different weather conditions
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
