Job Description
Responsibilities
Tasks to be performed under this contract
- Psychiatric evaluation of all referred cases involving mental health disorders or suspected drug/alcohol misuse, submitted by panel physicians or government‑affiliated officials.
- Accurate classification of all identified conditions in strict compliance with CDC guidelines for U.S.-bound refugee populations, including documented assessments for cases involving harmful behavior, using the latest DSM classification.
- Written recommendations for follow‑up and case management before and after resettlement, provided for each evaluated individual.
- Recommendations for provision of psychiatric treatment and follow‑up care for cases requiring clinical intervention, with documentation of actions taken.
- Clear, documented fitness‑to‑travel determinations for each assessed patient, including any special travel requirements and support provided during pre‑embarkation check‑ups and PDMS.
- Comprehensive written reports detailing patient history, clinical findings, diagnostic conclusions, and recommendations for every case evaluated.
- Any additional services beyond the defined prices shall be agreed in writing in advance, including scope, timelines, and fees, and shall not be undertaken without such approval
Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
- Timely completion of psychiatric evaluation for all referred cases.
- High‑quality, comprehensive clinical reports submitted for each case i.e., within 21 days of the mental health evaluation. Urgent reports may be required earlier (such urgency would be specifically communicated to the psychiatrist before the MH evaluation).
- Clear and well‑justified fitness‑to‑travel recommendations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Medicine with specialization in Psychiatry with seven years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional accreditation from a recognized medical, psychological or counselling association-society is an advantage.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including severe mental illness, cognitive impairments, and substance‑related conditions.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary medical settings or with vulnerable populations (e.g., migrants, refugees, displaced persons) is an asset.
- Prior experience in conducting psychiatric evaluations in clinical settings, preparing clinical reports, and providing fitness‑to‑travel assessments is highly desirable.
- Experience in training, mentoring, or advising medical staff on psychiatric or mental health‑related matters is an advantage.
Skills
- Familiarity with international health guidelines, DSM Classification, including CDC technical instructions, is preferred.
Languages
- For this Consultancy, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
