Internal Audit Officer

Company: Geminia Insurance Company Limited

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Internal Audit Manager in developing and executing the internal audit strategy for the organization.
  2. Support in preparing the annual audit plan and audit budget.
  3. Execute audits and provide assurance on the effectiveness of Risk Management, Control & Governance processes.
  4. Deliver audits in line with set audit quality standards.
  5. Understand the risk profile of the business, gaining and applying extensive industry knowledge.
  6. Engage with business process owners to agree on audit deliverables and timeframes, issuing findings related to work done.
  7. Provide an independent opinion on the risk & control environment for various business processes.
  8. Follow up on the progress of implementing management actions.
  9. Review risk issues and changes/developments across relevant business areas and the external environment, advising on strategy and direction.
  10. Create and nurture relationships with management and other assurance providers.
  11. Provide clients with an understanding of internal audit expectations.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  2. Professional qualification (CPA(K), ACCA, etc.).
  3. Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in the internal audit function.
  4. Experience in the general insurance industry is an added advantage.
