Job Description
Role Summary
- The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), a leading organization committed to the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities, is seeking to recruit a highly analytical finance professional who thrives on integrity, risk mitigation, and strategic oversight.
- Reporting directly to theĀ Board of Directors, the individual will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organizationās assets, reputation, and operational efficiency, while providing critical, independent guidance on financial accuracy, robust internal controls, and regulatory and donor compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit Planning & Execution:Ā Develop, execute, and monitor comprehensive, risk-based annual audit plans.
- Financial & Compliance Reviews:Ā Conduct systematic reviews of financial records, statements, and operational processes to ensure accuracy, standard compliance, and adherence to donor agreements and local laws.
- Internal Controls Assessment:Ā Evaluate the adequacy of existing internal controls, identifying inefficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
- Risk Management:Ā Perform organizational risk assessments and assist in drafting practical risk mitigation strategies.
- Reporting & Collaboration:Ā Prepare detailed, objective audit reports for the Board of Directors and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure recommended actions are successfully implemented.
- Capacity Building:Ā Support and train staff on internal control procedures, fraud awareness, and financial ethics to build a strong culture of compliance.
