Job Description
Job Purpose:
Medical Specialists in Gastroenterology/Hepatology deliver specialized diagnostic, treatment, preventive, and rehabilitative care to patients, ensuring high-quality services under the department head’s oversight.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver inpatient and outpatient care, including promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Lead hospital programs in the specialty.
- Uphold quality standards and patient safety.
- Mentor and train staff in the field.
- Coordinate training for health professionals in community and hospital settings.
- Follow protocols for specialized care.
- Provide expert care in wards and clinics.
- Lead patient rounds with junior staff.
- Explain illnesses and treatment outcomes to patients.
- Conduct advanced diagnostics and therapies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s in Internal Medicine (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- MBChB from a recognized institution.
- Fellowship or training in Gastroenterology/Hepatology (or demonstrated interest).
- Specialist certificate in the field from KMPDC.
- KMPDC registration and valid license.
- Professional indemnity insurance.
