Job Description

Job Role / Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chair and Vice Chair Research, you are expected to assist in developing and implementing annual goals of the assigned area which are aligned to the overall departmental goals. Additionally, you will be responsible to:

  • liaise with granting agencies and finance for timely issuance of financial reports
  • interpret the grant submission formats of different agencies and assist faculty members in preparing grant proposals accordingly
  • coordinate Departmental Research Committee (DeRC) activities
  • prepare and provide detailed overview of the departmental research profile at Departmental Faculty Meetings (Research) to appraise faculty of research progress
  • perform and supervise assigned academic administration, education support and research activities
  • coordinate Teaching and Research activities of the Department
  • oversee the smooth functioning of the Microscopy Lab, which includes; technical activities, equipment maintenance, inventories of reagents & supplies with day-to-day monitoring
  • keep the lab safe and operational by implementing safety / Biosafety practices that comply with the Institution, National and International regulations for safe work practices
  • coordinate and organize practical’s for MBBS/PHD/Elective students
  • facilitate bench sessions on “Introduction to bacteriology” for 3rd year MBBS student’s clinical Microbiology rotation
  • assist faculty in carrying out research projects
  • train and supervise lab staff, and monitor departmental & research activities.
  • assist faculty, residents, and PhD students in external and internal grant submission & budget preparation for grant proposals.
