Job Description

 SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, SEZA 5 REF: SEZA/HR/2023/12/4

a) Job Responsibilities

(i) Addressing inquiries related to SEZA from the general public, media, and special interest groups;

(ii) Ensuring the preparation and issuance of SEZA collaterals and communications align with SEZA brand guidelines and overall communications strategy;

(iii) Collecting, receiving, and communicating information to inform SEZA’s strategic direction;

(iv) Submitting weekly, monthly, and periodic reports within schedule and standards;

(v) Distributing press releases and media kits;

(vi) Drafting in-house stories, publications, and promotional materials;

(vii) Maintaining and regularly updating the database and mailing list of all stakeholders;

(viii) Preparing public relations materials for various departmental events;

(ix) Maintaining the media database;

(x) Monitoring the press on pertinent issues;

(xi) Updating the Authority’s website and engaging with users on social media platforms;

(xii) Organizing events, including press conferences, exhibitions, open days, workshops, and fairs;

(xiii) Managing calendars and diarizing events;

(xiv) Properly filing, folioing, and maintaining the Corporate Communication Department registry;

(xv) Capturing newsworthy photos for the Authority’s photo gallery;

(xvi) Ensuring proper selection and storage of promotional videos, photography, films, multimedia, and publicity materials;

(xvii) Compiling evidence for Performance Contracts;

(xviii) Handling and updating the Authority’s complaints register;

(xix) Monitoring and reporting on the usage of publicity and CSR budgets;

(xx) Compiling CSR and publicity reports and preparing proposals for Committee meetings;

(xxi) Organizing and executing Public relations campaigns and events;

(xxii) Coordinating customer satisfaction surveys;

(xxiii) Editing publicity and communication materials as advised.

b) Qualifications for the Role

To be eligible for this position, candidates must:

(i) Have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience;

(ii) Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or any equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

(iii) Possess professional qualifications and membership in a relevant professional body;

(iv) Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications;

(v) Complete a supervisory course lasting no less than two (2) weeks;

(vi) Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates will be expected to fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the

Constitution by providing valid originals of the following documents;

  1. Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;2
  2. Clearance/Compliance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
  3. Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority;
  4. Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
  5. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
