Reporting To: Head – Network & Infrastructure Support

Job Description

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and administration of the corporate data network. This role involves ensuring uptime, business continuity, disaster recovery, and managing the entire inventory. The Network Engineer will analyze network security needs, develop standards, guidelines, and contribute to the development of ICT system architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage ICT Infrastructure performance to meet Business SLAs.
  2. Monitor ICT Infrastructure performance and provide proactive remedial support.
  3. Develop and maintain policies related to access control, data transmission, storage, business continuity, backup, security, and monitoring.
  4. Plan and implement timely product upgrades, firewall signature updates, and patch releases for all ICT assets.
  5. Research and evaluate technical trends, industry standards, and technologies affecting networks, security, and other platforms.
  6. Define and document architecture components, including hardware platform, operating system, development, operation, distribution, and networking systems.
  7. Install, support, and maintain hardware and software infrastructure, attending to system failures.
  8. Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and consultants, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance.
  9. Custodian of all remote authentication passwords for connections to the corporate Network Infrastructure.
  10. Manage internal staff and external vendors to ensure uninterrupted business operations.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an IT-related field.
  2. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is a must.
  3. Minimum of 3 years\’ experience in planning, systems analysis, design, support, and development of LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  4. Experience in integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform environments.
  5. Proficiency in TCP/IP, IP Telephony, and Firewall appliances.
  6. IT/Engineering background with competencies in Networking, Engineering, Power systems, and project management/consulting skills.
  7. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead mission-critical projects and lead multi-disciplinary work teams.
  8. Extensive experience in WANs, LANs, and client/server-based systems.
  9. Understanding of modern information security threats and competency in developing effective solutions.
  10. Experience working with multivendor infrastructures such as Cisco, IBM, and Sun/Oracle.
  11. Knowledge of Service Provider infrastructure and experience with SP equipment and protocols.
  12. Competency in project management in a cross-functional environment.
