Job Description

Job Purpose:
Medical Specialists in Gastroenterology/Hepatology deliver specialized diagnostic, treatment, preventive, and rehabilitative care to patients, ensuring high-quality services under the department head’s oversight.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient care, including promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Lead hospital programs in the specialty.
  • Uphold quality standards and patient safety.
  • Mentor and train staff in the field.
  • Coordinate training for health professionals in community and hospital settings.
  • Follow protocols for specialized care.
  • Provide expert care in wards and clinics.
  • Lead patient rounds with junior staff.
  • Explain illnesses and treatment outcomes to patients.
  • Conduct advanced diagnostics and therapies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s in Internal Medicine (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • MBChB from a recognized institution.
  • Fellowship or training in Gastroenterology/Hepatology (or demonstrated interest).
  • Specialist certificate in the field from KMPDC.
  • KMPDC registration and valid license.
  • Professional indemnity insurance.
