 BARMAN

Karen Country Club, the premier Members Club in East Africa and Central Africa, is actively seeking to fill the position of Barman. This role reports directly to the Bar Supervisor.

Job Summary

The selected candidate will oversee the delegation of duties to bar assistants, manage stock levels, conduct stocktaking for all bar products, implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all bar sections, and ensure the proper management of bar equipment and machinery.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the delivery of professional services to customers with a quick turnaround for orders, adhering to set standards.
  • Maintain top-notch quality of beverages, cocktails, and other drinks served at the bar.
  • Ensure adherence to recipes for drink preparation, maintaining standardization in quality and quantity.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages to meet established standards.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and hygiene of the bar area.
  • Conduct accurate cash-up procedures and complete necessary paperwork at the end of each shift.
  • Adhere to stock control procedures, conducting physical counting of bar stock/inventory as required by policy.
  • Responsible for requisitioning bar items from the store and monitoring the expiry date of bar products daily.
  • Check for overstock and understock of items in the bar to maintain balance.
  • Ensure replacement and documentation of damaged or chipped glasses and other barware.
  • Monitor the movement of stock to ensure fast-moving products are always available, and non-moving stocks are not restocked.
  • Ensure all bar machines are well maintained, operated, and adhere to ISO, HACCP, and other safety requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate in barkeeping techniques.
  • Diploma in food and beverage.
  • Training courses in food and beverage/bartending/mixology.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a busy bar setup.
