Job Description

Director, Facility Management/Registrar Equivalent (Grade 15) – Directorate of Facility Management, Advert Ref AC/12/282/23 – 1 Post

Salary and Benefits:

  • Basic Salary: Kshs 209,694-283,087
  • House Allowances: Kshs 73,715
  • All other allowances and benefits will be in accordance with the terms of service applicable to respective job grades or as determined by Council from time to time.

Qualifications for Appointment: Academic and Professional:

  • a) Possess a relevant Bachelor’s Degree (quantity surveyors, property management, real estate, etc.) from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • b) Hold a Master’s degree in quantity surveyors, property management, real estate, or a related field;
  • c) Membership in good standing to a relevant Professional body (ies) (where applicable) will be an added advantage.

Experience and Skills:

  • a) Have twelve (12) years in Property Management in a large organization (preferably in the public sector) at a senior position.
  • b) Be computer literate.
  • c) Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be results-oriented, a team builder, and a person of high integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • a) Management of University Facilities: Oversee the operations of the University’s physical facilities, including all land, buildings, grounds, utilities, fleet, and plant & equipment.
  • b) Maintenance and Repair: Schedule and supervise maintenance and repair activities, contracted services, and custodial services, ensuring that the physical operation of the university meets budgetary and strategic objectives. Formulate and implement policies governing optimal management and utilization of university facilities.
  • c) Planning and Development: Plan, design, develop, acquire, maintain, and manage the facilities.
  • d) Compliance and Budgeting: Ensure compliance with relevant legislations and regulations. Prepare the facilities budget and monitor expenditures.
  • e) Other Duties: Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
