Duties and Responsibilities

Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, UNEP works through its divisions as well as regional, liaison and out-posted offices and a growing network of collaborating centres of excellence. This position is located in UNEP’s Law Division at its Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The Law Division is the lead Division charged with carrying out the functions of UNEP in the field of environmental law, governance, and related policy issues, including those related to multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs). The incumbent will specifically work in the Frontiers in Environmental Law Unit (FELU) of the Law Branch within the Law Division. The Unit’s main focus of work is to identify and monitor emerging issues, innovative approaches, and other frontier issues relevant to the effectiveness and progressive development and implementation of environmental law. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the head of the Frontiers in Environmental Law Unit (FELU) of the Law Division, the consultant will undertake the following activities: 1. Assess the governance regime of space pollution.
