JUNIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – NAIROBI

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Junior Maintenance Technician for our location in Ruaraka, Nairobi County. Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer, the Junior Maintenance Technician will be responsible for executing both predictive and planned preventive maintenance functions. The role aims to ensure increased and acceptable efficiency levels of the equipment and 100% reliability while adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Promptly respond to service requests and efficiently repair mechanical systems.
  2. Work swiftly without compromising quality to minimize downtimes.
  3. Communicate estimated repair timelines.
  4. Conduct tests and assessments on new systems and repairs to ensure quality.
  5. Commit to compliance with safety standards and regulations consistently.
  6. Perform preventive maintenance as per schedule to stay ahead of potential issues.
  7. Troubleshoot problems effectively, ensuring quality and lasting repairs.
  8. Log all services and report progress to the Value Stream Leader.
  9. Seek cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  10. Assess systems in collaboration with VSL and suggest modifications to prevent future issues.
  11. Maintain all equipment in excellent working order and uphold a clean and organized work environment.
  12. Record tasks/projects in maintenance report books, ensuring acknowledgment by the Value Stream Leader and Maintenance Engineer.
  13. Collaborate with team members in the line/cell, adapting to workflow needs.
  14. Achieve 100% set production, quality, and safety targets in the assigned line.
  15. Promote a safe working environment by reporting incidents through the Behaviour Observation System (BOS), Quick Risk Prediction (QRP), Near Miss, and safety tags.
  16. Implement LOTO 100%.
  17. Implement 5S standards and ensure the designated area is clean and organized.
  18. Develop OPLs and train team members on new and existing OPLs.
  19. Adhere to Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures daily.
  20. Fulfill any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in a busy Manufacturing Company.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, tools, equipment, codes, and safety procedures.
  • Independent, competent, and thorough professional dedicated to safety.
