Job Description

Umma University is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to join its team as a Lecturer in the Department of Community Health and Public Health Nursing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering learning and teaching material across various modules within the subject area. The role includes student teaching and evaluation, research and scholarship, mentorship, liaison and networking, community outreach, and a flexible approach to work.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Community Health/Public Health in Nursing/Nursing Education/Nursing Leadership.
  • Eligibility to register for a Ph.D. in the relevant area of specialization.
  • At least three years of teaching experience at the university level as a Tutorial Fellow or three years of research/industry experience.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • A minimum of three publication points, with at least two in refereed journal papers.
  • Must have supervised at least three undergraduate students to completion as a lecturer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Student teaching and evaluation.
  2. Research and scholarship, including proposal development, supervision of student projects/research, and presentation at conferences.
  3. Mentorship of students and new colleagues.
  4. Liaison and networking, participating in departmental meetings, conferences, and community activities.
  5. Community outreach, organizing and evaluating community activities with students.
  6. A flexible approach to work, performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
