Senior Project Officer – Knowledge Management & Learning (KML)

Location: Nairobi, Greater Nairobi, Kenya (On-site)

Reporting to: Program Manager Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Contract Duration: 1 year (renewable based on funding availability)

As the Knowledge Management and Learning (KML) Lead for the Kenya Country Program (CP), you will offer technical guidance and advice on KML to enhance adaptive programming for the poor and vulnerable. Your role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive KML strategy, fostering a culture of learning, and ensuring the effective dissemination of knowledge. Collaborating with various teams, you will contribute to strengthening evidence-based practices and adaptive project management.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement the CP KML strategy and framework, aligning with program quality principles and industry best practices.
  2. Lead/support the execution of KML activities outlined in the CP KML strategy and project Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs).
  3. Provide guidance to project teams for integrating KML into design and implementation.
  4. Collaborate with ICT and Communications teams to establish and manage a digital knowledge management library.
  5. Produce knowledge management and learning products, including manuals, guidelines, toolkits, and publications.
  6. Contribute to data analytics and visualization of project monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning findings.
  7. Collaborate with the communications unit to develop strategies for disseminating learning and communication products.
  8. Strengthen utilization of collaborative tools for sharing ideas among colleagues, project teams, and partners.
  9. Organize reflection sessions to identify and disseminate promising practices, lessons learned, and recommendations.
  10. Promote the application of learning in decision-making to enhance program quality.
  11. Review and ensure the functionality of the KML Technical Working Group.
  12. Lead KML-related technical assistance and capacity strengthening for staff and partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in Gender Integration in MEAL and Proposal Development.
  2. Familiarity with USAID Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) framework.

Required Languages:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Information Systems, Knowledge Management, International Development, or related field.
  2. Minimum of four years’ NGO experience in designing and managing knowledge management and learning systems.
  3. Experience in setting up and managing digital knowledge management platforms.
  4. Strong ICT skills, including MS Office packages, web conferencing applications, and data analysis tools.
