Job Description
The Office of Strategic Communications has an exciting opportunity available for an individual experienced with modelling open, timely, compelling communications and contributing to a culture that is impactful, creative, curious, and relationship oriented. You will be a part of the global communications team whose mandate is to demonstrate the value and impact of AKU and, in so doing, build ambassadors and advocate for the organization among internal and external stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Creating and executing evidence-based, robust communications, and marketing plans and campaigns, in consultation with the Senior Manager and other stakeholders
- Supporting the team in using leading trends and best practice of communications to amplify the University’s priorities and showcase our community
- Creating meaningful, relevant, and authentic positioning messages and calls to action, and supporting issues management and crisis communications
- Identifying communications sensitivities and risks in projects and initiatives, and applying creative solutions to communication challenges
- Taking a responsive, proactive, relational approach to media relations directly and through PR agency
- Crafting media releases and media advisories, and working with media to amplify the stories and manage any crisis
- Coordinating news releases for conferences & other events and booking slots for media interviews
- Developing and maintaining a roster of experts who can offer insight and commentary on emerging issues and stories
- Developing and maintaining relationships with agencies to maximize impact
- Gathering and contextualizing analytics to ensure efforts are effective and meeting the University’s objectives
- Managing and developing new area for website for University’s new initiatives and project.
- Building and sustaining trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to carry out communications objectives and developing appropriate communications collateral as required
- Contributing to creating a culture of trust, teamwork, and growth.
