Head Of Group Sustainability

  • Reporting: Director of Strategy & Chief of Staff
  • Unit: Strategy Division Executive Office

Purpose: Drive NCBA Group’s sustainability integration into financial strategies. Develop and implement sustainable finance initiatives aligned with environmental and social responsibility, ensuring financial success.

Key Areas:

  1. Leadership/Supervisory Role (30%):
    • Implement Sustainability Framework policies.
    • Collaborate with reps and sustainability champions.
    • Lead sustainability mapping and engagement programs.
    • Research new sustainability ideas.
  2. Product Development Advisory (20%):
    • Lead Green and Sustainable finance strategy.
    • Guide creation of sustainable financial instruments.
    • Collaborate on designing and managing finance products.
    • Identify sustainable investment opportunities.
  3. Financial Skills and Structuring (20%):
    • Oversee financial structuring of sustainable projects.
    • Monitor sustainable finance performance.
    • Provide deal origination support, lead credit assessment.
    • Review and coordinate project-level due diligence.
  4. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration (20%):
    • Build trusted partnerships internally and externally.
    • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Assist departments in aligning on sustainability projects.
    • Collaborate with relationship managers.
  5. Governance and Reporting (10%):
    • Develop and evaluate project progress.
    • Ensure quarterly reporting on sustainability action plans.
    • Prepare reports on sustainability performance.

    • Direct Reports: Senior Sustainability Program Manager
    • Indirect Reports: Regional Sustainability Leads
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Internal: GMD, EXCOM, Business Heads, General Managers
    • External: ESG External advisors, DFIs, investors, Bank Customers, Professional Associations, PR Agency, Creative Agency, Research Agency, Relevant Stakeholders

Work Cycle and Impact:

  • Tactical Planning: 2 weeks – 1 month
  • Strategic Planning: 3 – 6 months

Ideal Specifications:

  • Academic: Master’s degree preferred; Professional qualification in environment or climate risk-related field is an advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 10 years in sustainability, preferably in the financial sector, managing large-scale programs.
