National Project Coordinator – GCBC Project

Job Description 

The National Project Coordinator will oversee a research team comprising Nature Kenya, Kenyatta University (KU), Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), and the National Museums of Kenya (NMK). The research focuses on determining sustainable usage patterns in Cherangani Hills Forests that preserve and enhance biodiversity, habitat resilience, and climate change-related benefits. The National Project Coordinator’s responsibilities include delivering key outputs in forest ecology, biodiversity, climate, and human well-being, such as Ecosystem Services Assessment, Restoration Opportunity Assessment, Cherangany Forest Restoration Business Case, Ecosystem-Based Adaptation Strategy, Participatory Forest Management Plans, and knowledge products.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Wildlife Management, Conservation, Biology, or Natural Resources Management.
  • Minimum five years of experience in conservation research or action.
  • In-depth understanding of Kenya’s socio-policy and conservation landscape.
  • Demonstrated skills in research, analysis, technical writing, project management, and donor reporting.
  • Clear and concise communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, seek guidance, and achieve results through teamwork.
  • Strong passion and commitment to conservation, with a willingness to work beyond regular hours to meet objectives.
