PROGRAM COORDINATOR – CARTA
Job Description:
The position may be based at the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa), APHRC (Nairobi, Kenya), or one of the non-African-partner institutions. International travel is expected, with an average of one week per month on location, often in an African country.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordination of Non-African Partners (NAP) Activities:
- Convene regular meetings with CARTA non-African partner institutions.
- Coordinate work among partner focal persons in NAP institutions, ensuring effective communication and information dissemination.
- Report on CARTA’s performance, visibility, and engagement at NAP institutions to various stakeholders.
- Identify experts from NAP institutions for contributions to CARTA activities.
- Implement external review processes for CARTA activities at NAP institutions.
Coordination of CARTA Evidence Activities:
- Provide administrative support to CARTA-Evidence activities.
- Identify funding opportunities and support fundraising for CARTA evidence.
- Support the implementation of CARTA evidence project activities, including stakeholder coordination and progress tracking.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the CARTA evidence project.
- Oversee website traffic and engage users/stakeholders to increase its use.
Secretariat Support to the University of the Witwatersrand:
- Provide administrative support to the CARTA co-director based at the University of the Witwatersrand.
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of CARTA activities at the University of the Witwatersrand.
General Program Support:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records and documentation.
- Contribute to the development of research papers, policy briefs, and other knowledge products.
- Undertake other program-related activities as necessary.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Systems Strengthening, Public Health, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum three years post-masters experience in an academic or research setting.
- Experience in managing capacity strengthening activities in academic or research settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with an ability to work in a culturally diverse team.
Position Classification:
- Nationally Recruited Position (NRP), Grade V.
