The primary role of the position is to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, aesthetic appeal, and hygiene in guest rooms and public areas, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment that enhances the guest experience and upholds the establishment’s reputation.

Requirements & Qualifications
Level of Education

  • Atleast Secondary School Education (KCSE)

Specialized training/professional qualification

  • Atleast Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry.

Relevant Job Experience

  • Must have worked in a similar position for atleast one year.

Other competencies/skills/abilities required

  • Must maintain at all times highest standard of hygiene standards.
  • Must have good Planning and organization skills.
  • Must be a team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of guest rooms, meeting rooms, offices, cloakrooms and public areas as may be directed.
  • Assist in the reception as porters to incoming and outgoing guests.
  • Ensure the comfort of in-house guests and promote the security of guest property within the establishment.
  • Ensure the safekeeping and proper maintenance of work equipment and materials assigned for facilitating the performance of duties in the department.
  • Coordinate with the laundry department in efficient exchange of clean for dirty linen to and from rooms this includes guest clothing and rooms linen.
  • Ensure the security of keys within his/her custody.
  • Ensure safety and hygiene standards are maintained when performing cleaning services in all areas whilst adhering to cost.
  • Maintain control of linen rooms, store rooms, and ensure adequate security and supply.
  • Set up room/facilities for conferences, workshops and seminars.
  • Be responsible for the proper scheduling of the laundry department, keeping in mind the forecast and daily occupancy.
  • Observe standardized procedures in performing actual cleaning of all linen i.e. rooms and restaurant linen, guest cloths and staff uniforms within the establishment.
  • Maintain clean well stocked linen shelves and ensure effective adequate supply of clean linen to all hotel outlets in time..
  • Maintain up to date records of daily linen circulation.
  • Receive, sort and process all guest laundry and ensure billing of all items received laundered, packaged and delivered to guest rooms in good condition.
  • Implement fully the Jumuia resorts Strategic plan and SOPs
