SOLAR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN POSITION


Location: Mpala, North-Central Kenya

  • Mpala is situated on the Laikipia plateau, just north of the Equator, and covers 48,000 acres of savannah and dry woodland habitats.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspect and Maintain Solar Energy Systems
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems in solar PV systems.
    • Address electrical and mechanical issues.
  2. Repairs and Replacements
    • Perform repairs, replacements, or adjustments to solar components as required.
  3. Preventive Maintenance Program
    • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for optimal performance and longevity.
  4. Record Keeping
    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and part replacements.
  5. Collaboration
    • Collaborate with engineers and project managers for proper equipment setup and integration.
  6. Customer Interaction
    • Address inquiries, concerns, and complaints regarding solar system performance.
  7. Technical Support
    • Offer technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance via phone, email, or site visits.
  8. System Operations and Education
    • Ensure effective system operations and provide education on system operation and maintenance.
  9. Industry Awareness
    • Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the solar industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in solar maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of solar PV systems and associated electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing solar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work at heights, in various weather conditions, and handle tools and equipment.

EDUCATION:

  • Diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
  • EPRA certification or vocational training in T1 or T2 courses is an added advantage.
