 Laboratory Manager


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administration and Oversight
    • Manage and oversee all aspects of the Laboratory section.
    • Perform testing procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Personnel Management
    • Assess skills, manage performance, and handle disciplinary matters of laboratory staff.
    • Execute and supervise maintenance on laboratory equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Daily Operations
    • Independently perform tasks such as sample collection, processing, testing, and result reporting.
    • Ensure quality control and adherence to safety and policy procedures.
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage laboratory staff, assign tasks, and implement a performance measurement system.
    • Monitor staff activities, evaluate performance, and provide guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Budget Management
    • Develop and oversee the laboratory budget.
    • Make purchases of equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Quality Control and Policy Development
    • Review and update laboratory policies and procedures.
    • Provide guidance on quality control reports and monitoring.
  • Training and Development
    • Train, coach, and mentor new staff members.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement for better results.
  • Safety and Health
    • Prioritize safety and health in all laboratory work.
  • Professional Development
    • Stay updated on new developments in the field of laboratory science.
    • Incorporate relevant developments into laboratory operations.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in the Service Management industry.
  • Higher National Diploma in Microbiology from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Microbiology, Laboratory Management, or Quality Assurance (added advantage).
  • Training in good clinical laboratory practice is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory system audit and data analysis is advantageous.
  • Competencies in ISO 17025 and ISO 15189.
